Rescue Needs You
It is important from day 1 to establish we sometimes foster dogs in need of urgent assistance so if you think we may be able to help you out give us a call.
If you feel you don’t want to show or breed and are just looking for a mal pal or husky friend maybe you could consider taking on an older dog Malamute Rescue and SHWA { Siberian husky welfare Ass } are always looking for lifelong loving homes, but please don’t think they will be any less particular about the home the dog is going to.
Please expect to be intensely vetted, this is not meant to offend but you must be sympathetic to the fact that the dog has already suffered the trauma of loosing one home so it’s vital and even more important to try and make sure it doesn’t happen twice rescue wants to give the dog the best possible chance of finding the correct stable loving and permanent home.
The dog will most likely be neutered or spayed and will most likely be re homed without its registration papers, not because it is not a pedigree dog but to simply stop people obtaining papers that may get tacked to another dog and or used to aid unscrupulous breeding plans.
Malamute and Sibe Rescue dogs are not free, but are not as dear as breed prices , costs will occur due to neutering /spaying , worming fleaing , medical treatment and other related cost while in rescue ( like food, advertising, phone calls & travel ) especially if the dog is in a foster home placement or a small breeder rescue centre.
Never yet have I met a genuine rescue worker who makes a profit from rescue and some dogs may be in rescue for a good while.
Not all Malamutes in rescue are problem dogs some are victims off genuine circumstances ( Death, Divorce, Repossession Of House, Loss Of Job etc etc ).
There are however a number of malamutes and sibes that may have behaviour issues due to problems caused by the former owners so potential owners with experience of large dogs with the patience to train and rehabilitate are also needed.
You will have to prove to rescue that you are knowledgeable about the breeds and have done your homework if you want to be given serious consideration for a rescue dog.
And for those of you who aren’t in a position take on a dog, but would love to help out Malamute or sibe Rescue somehow donations of food, toys, bedding, treats, money and much more are always greatly received, you can make a huge difference to a Malamutes or sibes life, for more info on how you can help, please go to their web pages
